The documentation that was included above doesn't seem to match the current T7910 documentation online. I'm suspicious that one is wired directly to the CPU via the root complex and one is wired to the C600. If they are both the same, why designate one as primary and make the slot blue. I'm looking for why if both slots run x16 mechanical and electrical are the slots differentiated by color. Therefore, a PCIe x4 slot has 4 PCIe lanes or can support a device with a throughput rate requirement of up to 4 PCIe lanes, such as an NVMe SSD expansion card. Some of the pci slots are 5v, 3.3v or a 3.3v/5v (meaning either voltage pci module will work). The x16 slot, however, is a bit confusing to understand as the number 16, hereafter x, does not always mean 16 lanes more on this below. This is an insane amount of data to push through at once, which is why various entries into the PCIe SSD market have been posting theoretical transfer rate. PCI slot Ive found that the HBA instance s start. The system is configurable directly from Dell with two double wide NVIDIA Quadro cards. The PCIe slot, on the other hand - the same slot you use for video cards and other expansion cards - is quite a bit more powerful, handling around 15.75GB/s when completely maxed out. They say black is for secondary GFx card. Dell support says this is x16 mechanical and electrical.Īt the same time they say blue is for primary GFx card. Dell support says this is x16 mechanical and electrical. I'm a little confused because this info looks different than what I see in the user guide.įor a single CPU system with 40 PCIe lanes the user guide shows a blue slot that is mechanical x16 and electrical x16 and also shows a black slot which is again mechanical x16 and electrical x16.
